Keep your pets safe and happy during the holidays!
The holidays are a time of giving, and while our pets may be begging for some extra love on the food front, giving your pets scraps and snacks is something to steer away from. Not only will this help keep your pet’s digestive system healthy, but it will prevent you or a relative from slipping them something you may not even know is toxic.
Foods to especially avoid:
Bones (specially cooked), rich, fatty foods (turkey skin, chicken skin, gravy), spicy food, onions, shallots and garlic, chocolate, nuts, dairy products, yeasty dough, alcoholic beverages, anything sweet.
Plants that can cause illness for your pet if ingested:
Poinsettia, mistletoe, holly, lilies (toxic for cats), daffodils, Christmas trees.
Decorations to keep out of reach:
Tinsel, ornaments, electric lights, candles.
If your pet does become sick during the holidays, contact your veterinarian or a local emergency animal hospital immediately.
Happy Holidays from everyone at VIP Petcare. We hope your holidays will be filled with joy and laughter through the New Year.
